As an aspiring theoretical physicist in my teens, my hero was Murray Gell-Mann.
When I was 14, I found out he was going to be speaking at a conference at The University of Western Australia (where I went on to study physics). My friend and fellow aspirant Gerald Yong and I wrote to the university asking if we could meet him and they granted our wish.
Here's a photo of the meeting.
I'm still an aspiring theoretical physicist, I just have other things to do first :-)
And where is Gerald Yong now? He's a heart surgeon.
