The Redline Showdown is a bit more to my tastes, essentially putting the pedal to the metal on a V8 and ideally attempting to simply drift off the acceleration rather than actively brake and accelerate.
I chose the Formula E for the Stormfront series which ended up being a lot more challenging than I was expecting as the wet weather makes the racing line and passing more difficult.
The Formula E cars all seem pretty evenly matched even with Mods. Therefore getting to pole involves a lot more attention to technical aspects like the drafting model and knowing how the bends on the various tracks can be cut. It is quite an interesting learning experience but doing circuit after circuit of Nurburgring wasn't particularly fun.
Forza does an excellent job of using assistance to its simulation model to give a feeling of expertise immediately, completely unlike Grid or the rebooted Need for Speed which uses dialogue to tell you what an amazing racer you are as you crash helplessly from barrier to barrier, learning a punishing driving model.
