Discussions around PEP 439 (pip bootstrapping) have continued following my talk the PyCon AU sprints, in particular the thorny aspect of how to deal with system package managers (potentially including even MSI on Windows if pip is bootstrapped by the CPython installers) and pip getting into fights over who controls pip upgrades in the main Python installation.
