I've long wanted to buy a Tesla but the price point was never realistic for me.
At $35,000 it's more realistic (although I've never spent that much on a car to date) so I was excited for the unveiling of the Tesla Model 3.
As soon as I found out the $1,000 reservation deposit was fully refundable at any time, I decided to go for it.
I'll need a new car in a couple of years and I figured I may as well get myself on the list for a Model 3.
I probably would have gone to the Tesla store had I been in the Boston area but I'm in Perth at the moment.
I was visiting my mum in hospital during the unveiling so wasn't able to watch it live (although watched it after the fact).
I did happen to be on the site via hospital wi-fi an hour before, though—just as the online reservations were switched on—so I think I got it pretty early (although obviously after all the people that visited stores in person).
The charge went through right away but it took 20 hours before I received any kind of email confirmation.
In the meantime, I'd signed up to the My Tesla section of the Tesla site and my page there now shows my reservation.
Now I just have to wait two years.
