In my [PyCon talk on ApplePy](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhK5JNx0irA) I pronounced things like `0xD000` as "dee thousand". I felt a certain uneasiness at the time, but figured people would understand what I meant and it was quicker than saying "dee oh oh oh". Finally someone called me on it:

Just heard @jtauber call 0xD000 "dee thousand" and I'm just like you can do that??????

---- Of course, you'd never call `0x10` "ten" so calling `0x1000` a "thousand" isn't much better. But then it occurred to me: **is there a name for things like `0x1000` such that you'd pronounce `0xD000` as "dee [that name]" ?**
