*A place for me to collect planned (usually incremental) improvements to *[The Local Yarn](http://thelocalyarn.com). *One card per item.* ---- Pages listing [projects](http://thelocalyarn.com/projects) and [series](http://thelocalyarn.com/series) — I never quite got around to making these beautiful. They're still painful to look at. My current idea is to make sure each series & project has an associated image and display these along each one in the listing, with perhaps a fuller "short" description. In general I avoid adding artwork as a required step in my creation process because realistically it just means I would never publish anything. But I add new series and projects rarely enough (and after enough long consideration) that the added work would be worth it. ---- Artwork — When I started the site in 1998 I was using Victorian spot art illustrations (Examples: [1](http://thelocalyarn.com/article/in-defense-of-dandelions), [2](http://thelocalyarn.com/article/i-slept-and-dreamed-a-dream)). They're one of the few (maybe only) design elements that have survived to the present; amazingly, they still "fit". But I'm still using the original scans, because I lost the Dover art book I got them from. Just recently I finally ordered another copy. The plan is for Jess to paint & ink her own watercolor versions of the same sketches. We've talked about doing this for a couple years now. I'll probably leave the originals in place on very old posts (the ones that predate the [2012 redesign](http://thelocalyarn.com/article/presenting-the-local-yarn)) and update newer ones with fresh, colour, retina-quality artwork.
